The reported discovery of female bomb suspects among the insurgents is quite a new dimension in terrorism in Nigeria. However, I am using this medium to advise the governors of the northern states to do the needful for their female folk. It is alarming that most girls are married out at their tender age only to be divorced when they are in their prime of womanhood.
The northern leaders in governance and traditional institutions should work towards empowering their girls through education and skill acquisition. Women are nation-builders; the era where girls are kept indoors for productive reasons are over. Even in Saudi Arabia, women want to be driving cars. This is the 21st century, where the women folk can drive the north to become Nigeria’s Singapore. Insurgents are only using the women because they are idle, divorced and uneducated. We must act now before the Boko Haram think tank succeeds in its evil enterprise. Let’s stitch on time.
