FCTA constructs 71, rehabilitates 331 new classrooms in 2018

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) education secretariat said it has constructed  71 new classrooms and rehabilitated 331 others in 2018.

Secretary for the education, Dr Bala Liman in a chat with some journalists, said within the year a lot of attention was also placed on students’ hygiene as a total of 30 toilets were constructed and renovated across various basic education schools.

Liman said the development was prompted by the previous sorry state of some schools within the capital territory.

The secretary explained that the  visit of his predecessor to the basic education school at Tungan Ladan in Gwagwalada Area Council was  full of regrets considering the moribund  infrastructure.

He said after the visit to that school with several others, they  have received  full attention of government, saying also constructed and renovated across the basic schools are laboratories and administrative blocks.

In area of adult education, he disclosed that equal attention has been given as the wood/metal workshop of the department of mass education was completed at Karshi and agriculture workshop at Kwali.

To boost the productivity of staff, he said FCT scholarship board which hitherto had operated out of cramped offices has been moved to its completed office complex at Wuse  zone 3.
