FCT: Abuja south lawmaker empowers 408 market women

A House of Representatives member for Abuja South federal constituency, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has empowered 408 market women across the four Area Councils with cash donation to mostly petty traders in his constituency.

Ajiya, while presenting N30,000 each to beneficiaries in his Abaji home town on Saturday, said the aimed was to assist market women, especially, petty traders who were into various kinds of trade.

He said such gesture was part of his 2023 electioneering campaign where he promised to support the market women who were mostly pretty traders with grants to enable them do business of their choice.

According to him, the market women were selected across each political wards of Abuja South, which he said comprised Abaji/Kwali/Gwagwalada and Kuje federal constituency.

Ajiya appreciated the women for their patience and prayers that saw him through the tribunal and Appeal Court, as a result of election petition against him by his opponent, Alhaji Alhassan Sokodabo, of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) and that of the Labour Party candidate.

“Recall how my opponents, PDP and Labour Party (LP) both filed petition against my victory at the polls as duly elected member of House of Representatives for Abuja South, but today, glory to God, we are able to emerge victorious in all the court cases”, he said.

The lawmaker appealed to those that could not benefit from the first phase of the grants to be patience, assuring them that they would benefit during the second phase in no distance time.
