Fatal auto crash claims 17 in Niger

At least 17 people have reportedly died in an auto crash at Takalafia village along Yawuri expressway, in Magama local government area of Niger state.

It was learnt that the anccident occurred around 3am on Tuesday and that it involved a DAF articulated vehicle. It was gathered that the vehicle engaged in over speeding which resulted in loss of control that caused the accident.

The FRSC Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the accident in a statement issued in Abuja.

Kazeem explained that the accident involved 29 people, comprising 20 male adults, 4 female adults, and 5 male children.

He said the injured victims had been evacuated to Kontagora General Hospital, for immediate medical attention, pointing out that the dead were deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital in Niger state.
