The Ondo State Security Corps code-named Amotekun has disclosed that the incessant herders, farmers’ crisis in the state is now a thing of the past.
Speaking over the weekend in Akure, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the biggest challenge the local security outfit was confronted with was the clashes between farmers and herders.
Adeleye stated that the situation was terrible as the farmers were living in fear and had their crops and farms invested with huge funds, destroyed by the rampaging herders.
He stated that farmers had over the past completely left their farms for fear of being killed or kidnapped.
The Amotekun boss added that the mass education and enlightenment initiated by the security outfit between the herders and farmers helped in ending the clashes and reducing food insecurity in the state.
He said the Amotekun Corps was able to mediate between the farmers and the leadership of the Miyetti Allah to resolve the rift to ensure that normalcy returned.
While stating that the corps had close to 20,000 petitions within six months, the mass education of both the herders and farmers helped to neutralize the tension.
