Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has charged the civil servants and staffers of the 21 local government areas of the state to explore the potential abound in the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) to improve the quality of their health.
The governor stated this yesterday while launching the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Lokoja.
Wada said the scheme was intended to benefit all political office holders and civil servants, explaining that the scheme was inspired by his administration intention to ensure that all the people in the state had access to effective and quality healthcare services.
The governor, who said that the voluntary contribution concept started with the political office holders in the state, added that the programme was aimed at easing the potentials dream on the cash flow of the government as proposed by the implementation committee.
He commended the implementation committee for a good job and the political office holders for their voluntary contribution of 100 percent premium.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Omede, disclosed that the enrolment is in phases which he noted that it would begin from political office holders, then the judiciary and specialist follows by staff of the tertiary institutions and finally the state civil servants.
While commending the governor for his interest to ensure the health of the people, Omede called on the people of the state to reciprocate by responding through positive community participation.
