As wave of defections gather momentum, a prominent member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 general elections, Hon. Ismail Aliyu Makarfi, has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Makarfi was a former Commissioner for Finance in Kaduna state and a prominent figure in the party.
In his letter of resignation submitted to the APC, Makarfi ward chairman, the former commissioner did not specify any reason for his decision to dump the ruling party, but it may not be unconnected with recent political realignment across the country.
Hon. Makarfi said: “I remain grateful for the experience and relationships built during my time with the party.”
He said his resignation marks a significant turning point in Kaduna state politics having served the party in various positions and contributed to the victory of Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.
