Equity market remains bullish, gains N6bn

The nation’s equity market on Thursday appreciated marginally, growing by N6 billion as bulls continue to dominate the matket.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.01 per cent to N56.227 trillion from N56.221 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 10.79 basis points to 99396.23 points from 99385.23 points reported on Wednesday.

As a result year to date return went to 32.93 per cent as 35 companies closed in green while 16 firms in negative dimensions.

An analysis of the Investment showed that Cutix Plc and Seplat Energy led gainers table, appreciating by 10 per cent each to close at N4.40 and N3794.90 Kobo , Lasaco Insurance added 9.95 per cent to close at N2.32 , CWG added 9.85 per cent to close at N7.25 per share, United Capital gained 9.79 per cent to close at N24.10 per share.

On the contrary, Daar Communications recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding 8.93 per cent to close at N0.51 per unit, C&I Leasing trailed with a loss of 8.54 per cent to close at N3.00 per share, Conhall Plc fell by 7.98 per cent to close at N1.73 per share, MTN Nigeria Plc declined by 6.89 per cent to close at N200.00, Regal Insurance sheds 6.52 per cent to close at N0.43 per unit.

Volume of transactions increased by 253.006 million, representing 91.55 per cent as investors traded 529.369 million shares valued at N10.493 billion in 7616 deals against 276.363 million shares worth N4.120 billion in 7517 deals.

Trading in the shares of GTCO led market activities with 66.050 million shares worth N2.929 billion, UAC Nigeria followed with 46.350 million shares valued at N706.586 million, AccessCorp traded 39.350 million shares worth N754.174 million, Conhall Plc exchanged 31.601 million shares worth N54.860 million while Universal insurance traded 30.756 million shares cost N10.531 million.
