Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Friday returned to bearish run, declining by N32 billion.
The market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.05 per cent to N61.912 trillion from N61.944 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 52.72 basis points to 102133.30 points from 102133.30 points traded on Tuesday.
The NGX trading result showed that loss in the shares of UBA, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, AccessCorp, Eterna, GTCO Plc outweighs gain recorded in the shares of Universal insurance, UPL Ikeja Hotel, May and Baker and Wapic Insurance.
As a result year-to-date return declined to 36.59 per cent as 18 companies closed in red against 45 firms that closed in green.
An analysis of the investment showed that Universal insurance, UPL, Wapic led gainers table, appreciating by 10 per cent each to close at N0.55, N3.85 and N1.87 Kobo respectively. Ikeja Hotel followed with a gain of 9.95 per cent to close at N12.15 per share, May and Baker added 9.94 per cent to close at N9.40 per share.
On the contrary, HoneyWell flour topped losers chart, dropping by 9.09 per cent to close at N6.30 per unit, RTBriscoe trailed with a loss of 5.66 per cent to close at N2.50 per share, Neimeth international fell by 5.47 per cent to close at N1.90 per unit, Eterna Plc declined by 5.00 per cent to close at N28.50 per share, Tantalizer fell by 4.44 per cent to close at N1.72 per share.
The volume of trades increased by 19.953 million, representing 4.62 per cent as investors traded 451.732 million shares valued at N17.487 billion in 12551 deals against 431.779 million shares cost N18.262 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 8369 deals.
Transactions in the shares of United Bank for Africa led market activities with 41.725 million shares valued at N1.475 billion, AccessCorp followed with account of 35.438 million valued at N871.318 million, Zenith Bank traded 33.262 million shares cost N1.531 billion, GTCO Plc exchanged 22.880 million shares valued at N1.314 billion while Jaiz Bank exchanged 19.243 million shares worth N57.205 million.
