Emir of Lafia gets staff of office

People of the ancient city of Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital Friday were thrilled to a colourful durba when Justice Bage Muhammad 1 was presented with a first class staff of office and enthroned as the 17th emir of Lafia.

In his acceptance speech, Sidi Bage Muhammad described the presentation of the staff of office to him as an honour and pride to all people of the Lafia emirate.

He said he will ensure justice and fairness in discharging his duties.

 “l will do my best to ensure justice and fairness in discharging my duties “. He said.

The emir advised people of the emirate to continue to leave in peace and harmony with one another particularly amongst the youths.

Emir Bage also charged parents to leave up to their responsibilities in the upbringing of their children.

He said, ” As parents we have a huge responsibility in the upbringing of our children, we must continue to guide our children to the right path”.

In his speech, Governor Umaru Almakura congratulated the new emir and prayed Allah to grand him good health, wisdom in all his affairs and advised him to be just and fair to his subjects.

Almakura also called on the emir and other traditional rulers to maintain peace in their domains by reporting any person whose activities may disrupt law and order.

 Bage was appointed emir following the demise Mustapha Agwai.

The coronation ceremony was attended by several emirs and traditional rulers across the country including; the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111, Shehu of Borno Alhaji Kyari Mustapha Ibn El-Kanemi, Tor tiv James Ayaste, Fikka,  Pataskum, Gashaka and amongst others.
