Edo: Oba palace voids community head’s installation

The Oba of Benin palace has voided the purported installation of Pa. Aigbe Osarenkhoe as the Odionwere (head) of Ukpera village in Egor  local government area of Edo state.

The Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee of Oba Palace ruling was in response to the deposition by Enogie of the village, HRH Ogieayevbona Ivbaenikaro, who accused Pa Osarenkhoe of committing the act of self installation.

Chief Osaro Idah, the Obazelu of Benin delivered the ruling in an effort to stabilize and preserve the ancient Benin customs and tradition in the area after listening to submissions of both parties in the dispute.

Pa. Osarenhoe who was present in the Palace when the decision was taken had insisted that he obtained due permission from the Enogie before the purported installation.

He was however accordingly restrained from parading himself as the Odionwere of the village forthwith, for not seeking the Palace approval — mandatory traditional standard procedure in Benin kingdom.
