Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo North Senatorial District Monday berated the deputy governor of the state, Hon. Philip Shaibu, for suing Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Federal High Cour, Abuja.

The group said attempt to tell the deputy governor to seek peace had been rebuffed.

Shaibu who hails from Edo North had amongst others asked the court to stop Governor Obaseki from orchestrating his impeachment and an order for him to continue to perform his duties.

Addressing journalists in Benin City  Monday, the PDP leaders described the legal action as a distraction and an attempt to heat up Edo politics.

One of the leaders and ex-speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto said: “A governor is a governor. The deputy governor office is an office in the governor’s office.

“The deputy is trying to outshine his master. The PDP Afemai are not with Shaibu. We are solidly behind Obaseki because he has done so much for Afemai people.

“I don’t know the name of the deputy governor of Delta, Lagos and Akwa-Ibom state. Shaibu’s name rings bell because the governor gave him  wide latitude to operate with him,” Adjoto said.
