The youth leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Mr. Tony Adun, has apologiesed to the party leadership over the conduct of aggrieved youths during the party primary which held  on February 17, 2024.

Adun who noted that the party is supreme, pledged to work with the party and leaders to ensure that the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is victorious at the September 21, 2024 governorship poll in the state.

The APC youth leader in company of suspected political thugs invaded Lushville hotel, venue of APC primary election collation of results centre.

The thugs unleashed mayhem on journalists covering the collation of results and electoral officials, a development that disrupted the exercise.

Senator Monday Okpebholo was leading in six, out of the eight local governments results announced at the time, while the youth leader preferred aspirant, Hon. Dennis Idahosa trailed behind.

However, Adun in a statement he issued on Monday threw his weight behind Senator Monday Okpebholo who emerged candidate of the party in a rescheduled primary held on February 22, 2024.

He congratulated Okpebholo on his victory at the primary and urged all the youths to embrace peace, adding that “I remain a loyal party man.

“I wish to use this opportunity to appeal to our State chairman, Hon. Jarret Tenebe and State secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah.

“I also appeal to other members of the State Working Committee (NWC) to lead us to rebuild the party and ensure our party produce the next Governor in the elections.”
