An APC governorship aspirant for the September election in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, said that all members of the party must remain open to new members to boost membership and chances of the party in the state.
Ize-Iyamu said this Monday in Benin while addressing some party leaders and his supporters.
He also urged party members at the ward level to ensure that during ward meetings, members sensitise others on the need to get ready for the party primaries.
He also expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for ending the recent crisis concerning the APC National chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
According to him, “We are very grateful as indigenes of Edo because we would have been ashamed and dissappointed, if our son, Adams Oshiomhole was removed from office”.
He said that the people of the state were also grateful to the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, all APC governors and the leadership and members of the National Assembly, for their solidarity with Oshiomhole.
Also Ize-Iyamu said that members of the APC National working Committee and National Executive Committee as well as state chairmen of the party, including the factional state chairman of the party, Col David Imuse (rtd) also deserved commendation for supporting the National chairman at a time of need.
“Edo people are not ingrates. We appreciate those who stood with us in times of need. We don’t want the attitude of a few to give a wrong signal, because gratitude is in our DNA,” he said.
He however said that just as it was wrong and undemocratic for anybody to be talking of automatic ticket as far the Edo 2020 elections was concerned, it was also wrong to say that Second term was non-negotiable.
“In a state where majority of the people have no jobs, a state where there are no industries, and there are no health facilities; how can anybody brag and say they have earned a second term ticket,” he added. (NAN)
