Edo: 21 assembly members sign deputy governor’s impeachment notice

The Edo House of Assembly has served the deputy governor of the state, Hon. Philip Shaibu, impeachment notice.

In a petition brought before the Assembly on Wednesday and signed by 

21 out of the 24  members, Shaibu was accused of divulging government secret and perjury.

The Majority leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced the impeachment notice during plenary.

Aiguobarueghian added that the number of members who signed the petition were more than the two- third requirement  of  the constitution.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, acknowledged receipt of the petition, and directed the Clerk, Mr. Yahaya Omogbai to serve the impeachment notice on Shaibu.

He also handed the deputy governor, seven days to respond to the notice of impeachment.
