Barrister Silas Onu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for February 3 bye-election in Ebonyi South, has boasted that he came into the race to win.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting the February 3 by-election at the senatorial district to replace the vacant position created by the resignation of the Minister for Works, Dave Umahi.
Onu, in a statement sent to Blueprint on Tuesday by his aide, disclosed his intention to win election during a meeting with PDP ward executives across the five local government areas in Ebonyi South at his country home, Amenu Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of the state.
The statement said the meeting was aimed at laying the fundamentals for PDP campaign activities across the LGAs.
“Speaking with the ward executives, the PDP senatorial candidate, Barr Onu expressed his readiness for the forthcoming election in the zone and assured them that he is in the race to win.
“He also thanked the ward executives and his supporters across the zone for standing firmly and believing in him and the PDP, even as opposition parties spread falsehood about PDP not having a candidate.
“Barr Silas Onu also used the opportunity to task the ward leaders and other critical stakeholders to continue preaching the gospel of PDP in their wards and polling units level, reaching out to the local voter’s in their pulling unit, encourage them to come out en masse and vote for PDP for their vote will count on this election bring the change they desire in the zone,” the statement added.
