As Christian faithful around the world celebrate Easter, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, after his crucification on the Cross of Calvary, the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has urged residents of the Council to remember the less fortunate and extend a hand of kindness to them.
According to a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of AMAC on Media and Public Affairs, Kingsley Madaki, in his Easter message on Sunday morning, while felicitating with Christians, Maikalangu urged them to continue to reflect on the lessons from the sacrifices Jesus made on the cross.
Maikalangu emphasized the need to celebrate with loved ones, urging Christians to continue to show love and support to their neighbours, regardless of their differences, and work towards building a stronger and more united community.
The AMAC Boss enjoined Christians to reflect on the passion and sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, including forgiveness, tolerance, renewal, peaceful coexistence and harmonious living, urging residents of the council and Christians all over the world to practice same in their daily lives.
He specifically urged Christian faithful to continue to pray for the unity and progress of all tiers of government and for the success of their leaders at all times as Easter signifies a significant moment in Christendom.
Maikalangu congratulated Christian faithful and urged them to show love to one another, exhibit peaceful and harmonious relationship across their various communities.
He said: “Residents have in the past demonstrated in so many instances that they believe in these principles by their random acts of kindness towards one another, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. Let us be strengthened and encouraged by the significance of the Easter season to continue along this path.
“Let us also put our political differences aside and re-connect with friends, colleagues and other residents and continue our quest of building a strong, virile and indivisible AMAC together.
“Let us be assured that this Administration remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of building our council and connecting it with the rest of the world through the type of infrastructural development we all will be proud of. We, however, cannot do this without the cooperation of the citizenry, who are always at the heart of all our efforts.
“As we engage in festive activities, let us be security conscious and remain vigilant at all times. We should continue to imbibe the mantra of saying something when we see something.”
