Don blames recession on western world

The economic recession in the country has been described as “a complex conspiracy of the western world.”
A senior lecturer with the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Utaz Adamu brahim, declared this at a recent Economic Summit tagged: “Understanding Nigeria’s Economic Downturn: Islamic perspective”, organised by the National Council of Muslim youths organisations of Nigeria (NACOMYO) in Karu, Nasarawa state.
He argued that what is happening is a complex conspiracy of capitalist powers of the world contrary to the notion that, the melt down was caused only by the market forces.
He said: “There’s nothing like dollars, if we say that we are chasing the shadow and leaving the substance; it’s part of the globalisation issue.

“Remember, there was meltdown in America caused by one person through the stock. It spread to Europe and other parts of the world. Nigeria is open to the world to experience such. We sell oil to America and Europe; whatever happens to them affects us. They have been organising how it will hit us; it even happened two months when Muhammadu Buhari took over as the president of this country.
“Buhari, who is the president, is held hostage by America; they keep inviting him there for him to dance to their tune. About 40 per cent of our oil is being sold to America; they were buying our oil and accumulating. America has interest in Nigeria; they took our people there and they are still doing it again.”
In their separate remarks, the education secretary Karu local government, Alhaji Atiku Musa and the Chief information Officer(CIO) of Karu council, Alhassan Mohammed Nasir, urged the youths to consider the recession in good faith and rather, look at the necessity of being self independent and productive as the time calls for it.
Earlier, in a welcome speech, the Karu chapter chairman of NACOMYO, Muhammed Abbas, enjoined the youth not to compromise their role for financial gains “in this trying period,” adding that “they should still have a human feeling and struggle for the continuous survival of the nation.”
