The people leaving with disabilities in Adamawa state, under the auspices of the joint Associations of Persons leaving with Disabilities with over 600,000 members across the state, has thump up the state first lady Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for her numerous intervations and commitments towards bettering their lives through her pet project Fresh Air Pro-Life empowerment foundation ( FAPEF).
This is as they also urged other first ladies in the country to emulate her by embarking on impactful and life saving intervations that would give disabled community in their respective states a sense of belonging.
Speaking in an interview with journalists at the association headquarters in Yola at the weekend, the North East zonal cordinator of the Blind Association, Mr.Jibrin Adamu Amzaranda, lauded the first lady for providing them with empowerments tools such as motorcycles, sewing machines grinding machines, refrigerators which was distributed to all clusters of the association across the 21 local governments in the state.
He also praises the first lady for her other supports and intervations especially in the areas of financial supports to boost their small businesses ,distributions of food items, relief materials to over 2000 members at Jada special Education centre among many other intervations which have bring succour to their members.
While calling for more supports and intervations for their members, they urged other first ladies in the country to borrow a leave from her by giving priority and deserving attention to the plight of the disabled community in their states.
They association also appealed to the first lady to championed the task of ensuring that the current bill before the state House of Assembly for the establishment of the Disability Rights commission is passed into law by the lawmakers and domesticated in the state.
Amzaranda also make a case for allocation of 5% employment quota in the state for their members who are qualified to enable them contributes their quota to the development of the state in various sectors.
