Against the backdrop that Bayelsa state has become a huge construction site as projects claimed by the state government that are on going in the state, a Warri- based contractor and former senatorial candidate of APGA in the last election, Chief Ekemeswode Peters has challenged the Bayelsa government to differentiate between Federal and state government projects in Bayelsa state to clear doubts of rumors that the Federal government is involved in some major projects in Bayelsa state, home state of president Goodluck Jonathan.
Chief Peters who is also the President of Kou Youths Development Front in Ekeremor Local government area of Bayelsa state stated this while speaking to Blueprint in Yenagoa after arising from a meeting he convened with representatives from the three senatorial districts numbering 300 persons in attendance.
He said he is giving NDDC and Federal Ministry of Work a two week ultimatum to openly tell Bayelsans their projects after which they would storm their offices with protest.
He said abandonment of NDDC projects had necessitated Governor Seriake Dickson to set up NDDC abandoned projects monitoring committee headed by High Chief Omo – Lionel Jonathan and three months after its inauguration Bayelsans were yet ascertain their level of investigation or outcome.
Peters, who applauded the current state government’s initiatives to embark on the construction of three senatorial Districts roads, averred that the Ekeremor- Agge road and Agge Deep seaport when completed would boost economic activities in the area, as it would create “employment opportunities and reduce crimes such as militancy, sea piracy and other nefarious anti- social behaviors that are rampant in the area that have continued to dent the image of the Niger Delta at the international community.”
He advised the state government not to play politics with the three senatorial road projects which are very cardinal to Economic development of the state which is very eager to meet up with its contemporaries.
All efforts to speak to the chairman of the NDDC project monitoring committee, High chief Omo Jonathan – Lionel failed as his phone rag out and text message sent were not replied till press time.
