Delta state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday condemned the incessant kidnappings in the state as it called on the various security agencies in the state to be alive to their responsibilities in nipping the ugly trend in the bud.

Reacting specifically to the recent kidnapping and subsequent murder of the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, HRM Edward Ofulue111, as well as the alleged kidnapping of another monarch, the traditional ruler of Olomoro Kingdom, HRM, Josiah Aghaza 1, few days ago.
CAN warned those involved in the unholy acts “to repent or be ready to face the wrath of the soldiers of Christ’ in Delta state.”
In a two-page statement endorsed by the state chairman of the association, Rev. Gideon Oyibo and its Secretary, Rev. Prof. Oke Akokotu, CAN warned that should such unholy occurrence persist in the state, it would not hesitate to mobilise Christians for appropriate massive actions against Fulani herdsman – the alleged perpetrators of the act in the state.

While condoling with the Royal family of Ubulu-Uku and the entire Ubulu-Uku Kingdom on the strange kidnapping and gruesome murder of their Royal Majesty, the association has declared intensive prayers for the quick release of the kidnapped traditional ruler of Olomoro Kingdom.
The statement read in part: “We are disturbed that Fulani Herdsmen have been notoriously and continuously involved in many criminal activities in the country, without the adequate punitive and corrective actions of the federal government and security agencies.”
