Dele Alake, security chiefs, others for mining workshop in Abuja

The minister of solid mineral development, Dele Alake, chairman of miners association of Nigeria, Engr Dele Ayanleke and some security chiefs are expected to grace the Allied bond national workshop on combating illegal mining, smuggling and the protection of mining sites and communities for economic growth and development.

In a letter signed by the chairman organising committee Ahmed Yahya and coordinator Willie Tawo respectively, they stated that the workshop will among other things deliberate on how to articulate pragmatic strategies and proactive measures to combat the menace of illegal mining and smuggling.

They said the summit which will hold 29th to 30th of April 2025 at the Nicon luxury hotel Abuja, “will promote and enhance the development of the mining and solid minerals sector as a veritable tool for diversification of the economy and become a fulcrum to build industrial base, enhance the security of mining sites and promote peaceful coexistence in mining communities.”

According to the letter, the workshop will offer opportunity for experts to promote global standards and international best practices in mining operations and attract investments in the sector.
