The Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, has reshaped its operational strategy to meet the 1,000 benchmark student’s intake as a condition to enjoy TETFUND intervention.

TETFUND has released a circular warning that any tertiary institution with students’ population below 1,000 will be expunged from its list of beneficiaries.

At a joint news briefing in Dakingari, Tuesday, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, said present students statistics in the school stood at about 600, but projection in the next admission would surpass 2,000 to enjoy uninterrupted intervention by TETFUND.

“We held stakeholders meetings earlier this year on how to increase student’s enrollment and that meeting has helped a lot.

“Before the appointment of the incumbent rector, the student population was merely 300, but the situation has tremendously improved.

“Without the federal government’s intervention through TETFUND, many tertiary institutions owned by various state governments nationwide will suffer or face extinction,” he said.

“Kebbi government’s main objective is to ensure that the Polytechnic admits students from every part of Nigeria”, Tunga remarked.
