Cultists fighting over membership dues nabbed in Edo

Five suspected cultists who were caught engaging in street fight over non- payment of membership dues and absence from meetings are currently cooling off in the cell of Edo state police command headquarters in Benin City.

The suspects were reported to be members of the notorious Eiye confraternity group.

Four of the suspects, Samson Ochonobo, Emeka Eke, Friday Abgebayo and Chizoba Okolie were said to be beating Julius Eguasa for failing to attend meetings and paying monthly dues to the confraternity.”

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Edo state police command, SP. Chidi Nwanbuzor, said the suspects were arrested for conspiracy and cultism, adding that, “they are helping operatives in investigations.”

He  added that the suspects engaged in street fight at Ramat Park in Benin city, but were apprehended by operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cyber crime unit of the command on patrol.

Child said: “During interrogation, it was discovered that the suspects were members of Eiye confraternity.”
