CSO faults corruption allegations against TETFUND boss

The Competent Governance For Accountability and Civic Trust, a civil society organization has dismissed reports on corruption and sabotage of the nation’s vision of excellence in the Nigeria Education sector.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Amb. Adebayo Omoba, and available to journalists.
He said the allegations are baseless and aimed at tarnishing the good image of the Executive Secretary of TETFUND Arc. Sonny Echono.

He said owing to his vast knowledge in the Nigeria Education sector having served as Permanent secretary In the Federal Ministry of Education for 6 years and also retired there prior to his appointment to TETFUND, he has instilled a standing and verifiable tradition of prudent management of resources since assumption into office leading to notable achievements.

He disclosed that after much verification and fact finding, the group “discovered cheap blackmail of a performing Patriot and seasoned administrator who has dedicated his goodwill support for public service ought to be commended and rewarded for a job well done so far under his leadership in the growth of the Nigerian education sector at the helm of affairs as Tetfund Executive Secretary rather than tarnishing the impeccable character built over the years.

“This is a deliberate attempt to misinform the general public without facts to prove this baseless allegations to misinform Nigerians.

“Tetfund requires someone with the requisite exposure, network and experience to turnaround the fortunes of the nation’s education trust fund which the present leadership is demonstrating in line with the renewed hope geared towards growing the economy, so as to sustain the revenue base of the nation’s treasury,” the statement read.
