The Cross River state Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Mfon Bassey, has said with the continuous support of civil servants in the state employ, the Governor  Ben Ayade-led administration would finish strong.

Mr Bassey, who was also recently appointed the supervising commissioner in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, made the remarks in Calabar during his first interaction with workers of the ministry.

He said the ministry, under his supervision, would not initiate any new programme considering the limited time remaining for the administration to wind up, but would work to ensure pending programes are delivered holistically.

“While thanking you for your service to our state, I ask that this effort be doubled. This is because your dedication to duty and enhanced commitment to the success of the ministry would be a booster to the determination of His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade to finish strong, and with your commitment, he will finish strong,” he stated.

Bassey said the governor sees the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources as a key ministry in improving the quality of life of the people through sustainable agricultural programmes, and as such insisted on more commitment and focus.

The new Agric Commissioner thanked the governor for believing in him with the new responsibility, and promised to be meticulous and focused in service delivery.
