Covid 19: Taraba to investigate how patients escape from isolation center

The Taraba state technical committee on COVID-19 on Tuesday, vowed that it would investigate cases of escapees from the isolation center located at Sibre, in Jalingo.

The Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Innocent Vakkai, who stated this in Jalingo during the weekly media briefing on the activities of the committee said that the committee would contact heads of Security agencies on possible investigation into circumstances surrounding their escape from the isolation center.

He said that the committee would improve on the condition of the centre, adding that the complaint raised by the public regarding their feeding was sufficiently addressed.

“Some people in isolation obviously showed some signs of hostility from confinement but they have been sensitised  and they are beginning to see reasons. We received their complaints and there has been improvement,” he said.

He explained that the state government was working with other states where the victims came from with a view to trace those who had made contact with them.

He further said that the first eight index cases had only one with severe symptoms, while the other seven had mild symptoms.

He noted that the committee would make necessary recommendations to the government concerning guidelines earmarked by the Federal government in the last Presidential broadcast.
