COVID-19: Ministry to partner Islamic bank

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST), Dr. Mohammed Bello Umar on Friday inaugurated a committee on collaboration between the Ministry and the Islamic development Bank.

Umar urged members of the Committee to follow the Ministry’s roadmap and come up with ways of contributing to the fight against on COVID-19.

The Committee, according to the Permanent Secretary, is to seek support from the Islamic Development Bank in the area of Research and Development, capacity building and production of Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) against the Covid-19 pandemic.

He urged members of the committee to collate inventions and innovations on COVID-19 developed by the Ministry’s agencies for possible funding and support by the Islamic Development Bank.

He lauded members of the committee for their diligence and patriotism in this period of the pandemic, adding that this window of funding must be leveraged upon to achieve their objectives.

Umar further seized the opportunity to commend the Minister of State, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi for his efforts in actualizing the collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank.
