COVID- 19: Kwara vaccinates 30,000 children in 3 LGs

About 30, 000 under five children across three local governments in Kwara  state who were not vaccinated for preventable diseases during the COVID – 19 pandemic have been captured and fully vaccinated.

The affected local governments are: Barauteen, Ifelodun and Ilorin east local government areas.

Speaking at the first quarter inter-ministerial press briefing organised by the Kwara state Ministry of Communication, the executive secretary of Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Professor Nusirat Elelu, said the 30, 000 children were those whose parents could not access health care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is not only in Kwara, it cuts across the country. You know during COVIS-19 lock down, some people could not go out and some were afraid to go to hospitals and children who were supposed to be immunised during that period for preventable diseases missed immunisation exercise,” he said.
