The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has said the order by the Federal High Court to lift Senate’s suspension on the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, is a resounding triumph for legislative independence.

A statement on Friday by CUPP’s National Secretary, High Chief Peter Ameh, said, “the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) jubilantly welcomes the historic court ruling mandating the Senate to immediately recall the unjustly suspended Senator Natasha”.

The statement further read:”This monumental victory is not merely a personal vindication for Senator Natasha but a resounding triumph for legislative independence, a beacon of hope forged in unyielding courage, and a powerful rebuke of the oppressive tactics employed by the Senate leadership.

“We vehemently condemn the egregious legislative rascality and flagrant abuse of power perpetuated under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The suspension of Senator Natasha was a shameful act of tyranny, a deliberate assault on democratic principles, and a brazen attempt to silence dissent within Nigeria’s hallowed legislative chambers.

“Such deplorable actions represent a grotesque betrayal of the sacred trust bestowed upon the Senate as the nation’s premier lawmaking body. This ruling must serve as an unequivocal end to the Senate’s reckless desecration of our democratic institutions, which threatens to erode the very foundations of our republic.

“We call upon all senators to emulate the fearless resolve displayed by Senator Natasha and rise in defense of the integrity, honour, and prestige of the Nigerian Senate. The continuous assault on our noble institutions is an affront to every Nigerian and cannot be tolerated.

“The Senate must cease its descent into a cesspool of authoritarianism and recommit to upholding the principles of justice, fairness, and accountability.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Senator Natasha and salute all patriotic Nigerians who boldly spoke out and fiercely fought against the tyranny of this Senate leadership. Their collective resolve has reaffirmed that the will of the people cannot be subdued by oppressive machinations.

“This victory is a clarion call for all Nigerians to remain steadfast in safeguarding our democratic institutions from further degradation”.
