A High Court in Makurdi, Benue state, Thursday, declared a seven-man caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state invalid.
The court, presided over by Hon. Justice T. A. Kume, ruled in favour of the state Chairman of APC, Comrade Austin Agada.
The court held that the dissolution of the excos was not in line with the party’s constitution and violated the rights of fair hearing.
Additionally, the court declared all actions taken by the national secretariat of APC to replace the Austin Agada-led state working committee as null and void.
Austin Agada remains the recognised chairman of APC in Benue State, and his committee remains the legitimate leadership of the party in the state.
The embattled APC State Publicity Secretary, Dan Morgan Ihomun, in an interview with newsmen congratulated party members on the victory and expressed gratitude for their support.
However, the APC has entered an appeal at the Makurdi division of the Court of Appeal against the judgment.
The party has also filed a motion at the state High Court for a stay of execution in the judgment pending the hearing and determination of the appeal.
