Courageous women empower Delta widows amid hardship

The Courageous Women in Action (CWIA), a U.S.-based nonprofit organisation, has extended its empowerment efforts to widows in Delta state Nigeria.

The group, Led by Dr Hetty Asiodu, organised an impactful outreach programme in Asaba, the Delta state capital, to provide essential resources to widows to assist them build sustainable livelihood.

A press statement issued to Blueprint, Sunday, said during the event which took place at St Johnbosco Catholic Church Asaba on November 9, 2024, widows gathered in large numbers to benefit from CWIA donation of bags of rice, bringing a sense of relief amid Nigeria’s economic challenges.

Dr Asiodu while speaking at the occasion emphasised the organisation’s mission to foster self-sustenance and thanked donors for supporting CWIA’s efforts.

She said, “When we support women, we support the nation,” acknowledging Mrs. Carolyn Copeland and her family’s support for Asaba widows by providing them with tools to overcome their daily hardship.

Expressing gratitude, the widows prayed for CWIA and its commitment to their empowerment as they were equipped with new skills and essentials which inspired them for hopeful for a brighter future.
