Confab: Ngas ethnic nationality protest exclusion

Ngas ethnic nationality in Plateau state has registered its protest with the Governor of Plateau state, Jonah David Jang, over what it said was an exclusion from the state delegates to the forthcoming National Conference, due to commence next week.

The ethnic nationality, in a letter to Governor Jang, and signed by its vice president and secretary general, Prof Shikyil Sylvester and Prof Zachariah Goshit respectively, expressed its displeasure that out of 11 delegates from the state, “not single member of their ethnic group has been included in the confab”.

The statement said: “Regardless of the process of selection of the delegates, our position is that there are eminently qualified sons and daughters of Ngas that would have made the list, if there was proper consultation with the relevant stakeholders in the state.

“We also make bold to say that in the whole of Plateau Central Zone, the Ngas ethnic nationality is the major ethnic group that currently has two local governments, namely; Pankshin and Kanke with an extension to Bauch and Taraba states.”
