Commercial tricycle owners urge Tinubu to fulfill CNG promises

National Commercial Tricycle Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (MOTOMORAS)  Monday appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fulfill his promise of 2,000 Natural Compressed Gas (CNG) for tricycles during his electioneering campaign.

Speaking at a press conference at 7th Option Garden and Park, Garki, Abuja, the national president of MOTOMORAS, Alhaji Usman Buba Gwoza, said the association has over 18 million registered members who owned and ride tricycles and motorcycle across all the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said in April 2022, the APC national campaign flag-off in Plateau state, MOTOMORAS came out en mass to show support for Tinubu/Shetima presidential ticket.

“Because of our visible support, APC created the Directorate of Community Transport (Keke and Okada) and I was appointed the national director for the directorate. Our members also work as polling agents, mobilisers , and volunteers from polling units to wards to LGAs, and state to ensure that Tinubu/Shetima won the 2023 presidential election,” Gwoza stated.

He noted that but today, almost two years after, not even one of the promises made to NATOMORAS has been fulfilled. We were promised federal appointments, financial and support for our directorate and most importantly, we were promised tricycles empowerment to our members, he said.

Hestated further that  during the 1st October ,2024, Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary held at the old parade ground, Garki Abuja, the then  Minister of State for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, publicly announced that 2,000 CNG-Powered tricycles have been handed over to NATOMORAS as part of the campaign promises.
