The spiritual gead of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Unification Church of Nigeria, Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao, Monday called on President Bola Tinubu and the federal government to urgently implement economic reforms aimed at easing the worsening hardship faced by Nigerians.
Dr. Alao made this appeal at a world press conference held to announce a series of events marking the centenary celebration of the church’s establishment in Nigeria.
Represented by the church’s general secretary, Senior Apostle Tayo Ajose, Dr. Alao said the church is deeply concerned about the severe economic realities currently confronting millions of citizens.
He stated that part of the church’s activities would include a scheduled visit to the Presidential Villa, where church leaders intend to directly appeal to President Bola Tinubu and select state governors about the urgent need for policy change.
“When our fathers and mothers visit the president, it will be to tell him the truth, to inquire about the well-being of the nation, and to counsel him on the need to revise economic policies that are negatively impacting the ordinary Nigerian,” Ajose said on behalf of Dr. Alao.
The church leader stated that the visit would go beyond mere spiritual support, adding that they intend to back their prayers with concrete action.
“We will also pray for him because we believe in the efficacy of prayers, but we will not limit our efforts to prayers alone,” he added.
In addition to addressing economic concerns, the C&S leadership condemned the recent spate of violence across the country, particularly the killings of hunters in Edo state, the renewed violence in Plateau state, and the growing incidents of kidnapping nationwide.
Dr. Alao urged the federal government to urgently step up security efforts to safeguard lives and ensure that businesses can thrive without the constant threat of violence.
