Chinese firm, TBEA International Turn Key Project of China, has indicated interest in supplying modern transformers to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) to ease electricity distribution and boost government’s target electricity production.

The general manager of the company, Wang Xinbiao disclosed this when he led a delegation to the corporate headquarter of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) yesterday in Kaduna. Mr. Xinbiao said his company is ranked third worldwide in the area of production and distribution of transformers and electricity appliances.
“We are here today because of the visit of your President, Goodluck Jonathan to China and one of the people we met was the managing director of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, who indicated the interest of his company to do business with our organization.

“We are here today on a fact finding mission to see the area we can work with together with PHCN/KEDC . We already have a production firm in India and we have been doing business with Sudan, Angola and Tanzania, so we are familiar with African terrains, especially in  power supply,” he said.
The managing director of the KEDC, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, in his response, said the coming of Chinese firm is a welcome development because it is going to boost the power sector in the country.  He added that from the track record of TBEA it is obvious that they are partners that will change the face of power sector in the country.
“We want to urge you to please think of establishing a transformer production plant here in Kaduna, where the company will reduce the cost of production at the same time generating employment for the unemployed Nigerians,” he said.
