China, major source for foreign direct investment in Nigeria – NIPC

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Yewande Sadiku, has said that China has been a major source for foreign direct investment in Nigeria.
Sadiku who was represented by the Deputy Director in the Commission, Shettima Barma, at the just concluded China-Nigeria Agricultural Modernisation Cooperation Forum, organised by the Chinese government in Abuja, noted that Agriculture is very important in our efforts to diversification of the country’s economy.

According to her “It is not just agriculture but those sub-sectors that used to consume huge foreign earnings to import like the rice, wheat and so on.”
She stated that NIPS would continue to maintain strong investor support system to help investors navigate through regulatory and administrative processes in the country.

She also noted that investors should feel free to intimate the commission in case on any challenge they faced for possible intervention.
Also, another Director in the ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Muyiwa Azeez ,who represented the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said that the China’s agricultural growth was impressive and offers lesson for African countries entirely.
According to him, China pulled over 400 million people out of poverty within 10 years, adding that this was achieved through transforming its agricultural sector.
