The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to reclaim the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency seat, as it officially flagged off its by-election campaign for Barrister Esther Ashivelli Dawaki with a colourful rally and a passionate appeal to voters.

Held in the heart of the constituency, the event drew a massive crowd of supporters, signalling what party leaders described as a “clear rejection” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the rally, the PDP deputy chairman in Kaduna state, Hon. Nuhu Lawal Kayarda, declared that the party was fully prepared to win the by-election despite the power of incumbency.

“We are confident. Very confident. You’ve seen the crowd here today, you’ve seen the energy,” he said.

“Our candidate is popular, accessible, and committed to the development of our people. This election is for PDP and for Esther.”

But it was the candidate herself who captured the mood of the constituency with a powerful message of hope, unity, and purpose.

“As a woman and as a youth, I understand the pain, the struggle, and the dreams of our people. “When you empower a woman, you empower the entire family. When you support a youth, you build a future,” Barr. Esther Ashivelli Dawaki.

She promised a people-focused representation anchored on education, peace, and the economic empowerment of women and young people.

“Our focus is on restoring dignity to the families of Chikun and Kajuru. We will explore the strengths and talents of our youths and give them a platform to thrive. We are bringing new ideas to Abuja that reflect the real needs of our people,” she added.

According to her, issues like insecurity, poverty, and lack of opportunity have persisted under the current leadership, and it was time for a new chapter.

The PDP campaign also pledged to sponsor legislation tailored to address the unique challenges facing Chikun and Kajuru, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, and inclusive governance.

The by-election, scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is expected to be closely watched, with both major parties mobilising resources and influence to secure the strategic seat.
