Certificate forgery’: UniJos Registrar debunks media report

The Registrar, University of Jos, Mr. Emmanuel Dajang has told the Jos division of Federal High Court 2 that the publication of Vanguard newspaper on alleged certificate forgery against Rt. Hon Ibrahim Baba Hassan did not emanate from the institution.
The Registrar told the court, presided over by Justice Haruna Kurya, while tendering some documents led by plaintiff’s counsel, Barr. D.C. Obapawucar at the court continuation of hearing over the certificate forgery case filed by Abdulnasir Saleh in an APC pre-election matter.
As at Tuesday proceedings, the university registrar told the court that: “The publication of Vanguard newspaper was not signed by the Registrar and the office of the Registrar did issue out any document for newspaper publication.”
He said the university never issued any public notice for publication in any newspaper, without the Registrar’s signature and official seal, which his predecessor’s signature and seal was not reflected on the newspaper’s publication.
Dajang stressed that: “Before the University embarks on any publication of public notice, there must be a signature of the Registrar and a stamp of the office which were done on the Vanguard Newspaper Publication on page 47,” alleging that the university has disclaimed the originality of the defendant’s certificates.
