In spite of the management of BUA Cement that cement price would fall in Nigeria, the price of the product has continued to rise in Enugu state, Blueprint has gathered.
Recall that last year the management of BUA Cement had promised to crash the price of cement from between N4, 000 and N5, 000 to N3, 500.
However, since the BUA Company made the pronouncement, the price of cement has not declined in Enugu state; rather it is rising by the day.
It was gathered that Elephant Supaset, Dangote, Ibeto sell for between N5, 000 and N5,500.
A cement dealer, Mrs Nomeh said the N3, 500 projected by BUA management was the factory price but not the landing cost.
“The cement price of N3, 500 is the factory price not the landing cost. Go round the whole market and you cannot get any cement, no matter the brand for less than N5, 000,” Nomeh said.
Another dealer, James Omeke said from the way things go, the price of cement might hit N6, 000. “From the way I see things, price of cement may rise to N6, 000. The other day we sold for N5, 300 but now it is between N5, 400 and N5, 500. If nothing is done, it may rise,” he said.
