The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Monday, held an interactive session to introduce principal officers of newly established, upgraded and adopted universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
The meeting was aimed at the regulatory framework guiding admission on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and operations of the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS).
Speaking during the event at headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), JAMB registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede said the meeting is also to outline proper procedure for recruiting candidates for the 2025 admission and for 2024 (for those whose commencement date was 2024).
He said it is because some of the institutions might not have been part of the choices available to the candidates during 2025 (and 2024 too) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)/Direct Entry (DE) registration.
He said: “For the benefit of institutions that are entirely new, the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), created in 2017, is an automated system of processing admissions. This system ensures transparency, fairness and inclusiveness, eliminates multiple admissions, expands admission opportunities for candidates, provides credible and easily retrievable data for planning purposes and minimises human errors.
“The Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS), created in 2018 is a system where institutions prescribe their specific entry requirements and candidates are guided, through the eligibility checker for intended programmes before registration.
“For prospective candidates with 2024 registration numbers but yet to be admitted, they will only need to change their institutions to make your institution their first choice. Your institution will simply recommend them on CAPS and JAMB approves.
“For candidates who have registered and will take the 2025 UTME, they just need to change their first choice to your institution when the programmes are available and thereafter, you are to recommend them on CAPS for the approval of JAMB.”
