CAF Awards 2024: Edo Queens, 2 others battle for Women’s Club of the year

Edo Queens are in the final  shortlist for the 2024 CAF Women’s Club of the Year.

The Nigerian champions are in contention for the award alongside African champions TP Mazembe of Democratic Republic of Congo and Morocco’s AS FAR.

Edo Queens won the NWSL title this year and came tops at the WAFU B Women’s Champions League in Cote d’Ivoire.

Moses Aduku’s side finished fourth at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Benin City club will be looking to make history as the Nigerian club to win the award.

The award ceremony will hold in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday, December 16.

Meanwhile, Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been nominated for the 2024 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year.

Okwuchukwu is nominated alongside two other players.

The young striker was among the top performers for Nigeria’s Falconets at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Chris Danjuma’s side were eliminated by Japan in the Round of 16.

Her compatriot Flourish Sabastine failed to make the final cut.

Egypt’s Habiba Sabry and Doha El Madani of Morocco are also in contention for the award.

The award ceremony will hold in  Marrakech, Morocco on Monday, December 16.
