Contrary to the denial by the presidency over the president’s health condition, President Muhammadu Buhari will today leave for London on a 10-day visit to seek medical treatment.
A section of the media had reported the president as having an infection in his left ear, otherwise called Meniere Disease, a challenge which was said to have caused him hearing impairment and severe pains and unusual sounds.
It was reported to have also reduced his outings and led to cancellation of his official trips within and outside the country with Vice President Yemi Osibanjo representing him at those events.
The presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, in reaction to the media reports, however, said the president was ‘as fit as a fiddle,” insisting the whole country saw him when he received some dignitaries at the presidential villa in Abuja during the week.
“That is a figment of the person’s imagination. Just yesterday he received the primate of the Anglican Common and Arch Bishops at the presidential villa. He also received former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He is hale and hearty. The imagination of whoever says that is on overdrive,” he said.
Information on the president’s Tweeter handle, President Buhari @ NGRPresident late last night indicated that: “President Buhari will take a 10-day off and travel to London from Monday June 6, to rest.
“During the holiday, the president will see an ear, nose and throat specialist for a persistent ear infection. The president was examined by his personal physician and an E.N.T specialist in Abuja and was treated.
“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evalua-tion purely as precaution.”
