The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie on Friday morning failed to qualify for the final of men’s 4x400m despite finishing second in the semi-final.
They were initially meant to make it to the final scheduled for Saturday but Athletics officials later announced that one of the quartets failed to run in accordance to line or lane rules.
Aside the technical judgement that has now ruled them out with South Africa announced in Nigeria’s place, this is the fastest time a Nigerian 4×4 quartet has run since 2004.
