The Court of Appeal Jos division, has Friday said Simon Balo Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was validly reelected governor of Plateau state in the March, 2019 general elections.
Justice O.A. Otisi, in a concensus judgement, affirmed the judgement of the Plateau state governorship election petition tribunal, which earlier upheld Simon Lalong’s reelection.
It held that Lalong is educationally qualified to contest in the 2019 election.
Ex-Senator Jeremiah Tembut Useni, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had challenged the declaration and returned of Lalong, as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Both the tribunal and the appellate courts, have dismissed Useni’s petition and appeal for lacking in “meirts.”
Justice Otisi, dismissed appeal No. CA/J/EPT/OL/409/2019, filed by Useni and PDP, he awarded the sum of N200,000 as cost to be paid to the 2nd and 3rd respondents.
The court further dismissed two cross-appeals filed by Simon Lalong and that of the APC, for lacking in “meirts,” and abused of “processes.”
