The Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Akure has upheld the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, putting to rest legal challenges against his victory.
Aiyedatiwa, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had his election earlier validated by the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. The court dismissed the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, citing a lack of merit.
The PDP and Ajayi had challenged the conduct and outcome of the poll, alleging irregularities. However, both the tribunal and now the appellate court found the election to be in substantial compliance with the law.
