Honourable Maigari Abare, the member representing Bayo Constituency in the Borno State House of Assembly, has applauded Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his remarkable strides in the development of Borno state.

In a statement issued in Abuja and obtained by Blueprint, Hon. Abare highlighted Governor Zulum’s impact in the areas of security, infrastructure, and human capital development.

He specifically commended the governor for projects executed in Bayo Local Government Area, including the construction of an ultra-modern council secretariat, ultra-modern markets in Balbaya and Fikayel districts, and the renovation of the General Hospital in Biryhail.

He also acknowledged the provision of solar renewable energy in the local government secretariat.

Hon. Abare praised ongoing improvements in the health sector, such as the construction of additional ward blocks at the Gwoza and Biu Eye Centres, as well as the building and renovation of primary healthcare centres and dispensaries in Limanti and Fikayel wards.

According to the lawmaker, Governor Zulum has also prioritized agriculture and commerce through the distribution of inputs to farmers, quality water supply, borehole drainage systems, and the provision of transport facilities to support trade and economic activities.

He further lauded the administration’s efforts in building township roads, dualizing major roads in Maiduguri, and constructing four flyover bridges in the state capital — developments he said have improved mobility and economic growth.

In the area of security, Hon. Abare praised Governor Zulum for providing security equipment to law enforcement agencies and local vigilante groups, including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents, particularly in Northern Borno communities such as Marte, New Marte, Gwoza, and Bama.

The lawmaker also commended the state government’s investment in youth and healthcare workforce development, including the training of doctors, nurses, and midwives.

He highlighted the distribution of buses and commercial vehicles by the government to enhance the transportation of goods and people within and outside the state — an initiative aimed at attracting investment and boosting economic activities.

Hon. Abare urged young people in the state to be law-abiding, engage in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship, and serve as good ambassadors of Borno.

He described Governor Zulum’s leadership as visionary and aligned with the developmental foundation laid by Vice President Kashim Shettima during his time as governor.

The lawmaker also called on fellow lawmakers and commissioners to align themselves with the governor’s mission and vision for a more prosperous Borno.

He concluded by appreciating the construction of modern markets in Balbaya and Fikayel, and expressed support for the efforts of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in rebuilding the region.
