Plateau state Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, Professor Patrick Dakum, Tuesday, commiserated with the government and entire people of Borno state over the unfortunate flood that ravaged parts of Maiduguri.
Professor Dakum, who is also the chief executive officer, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, described the natural disaster as another humanitarian crises.
In a signed statement by his media consultant, Shabul Mazadu, Professor Dakum said the disaster that claimed lives and displaced over 414,000 people from their homes, was sympathetic.
“I express my sympathy to Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the entire citizens of the state over the unfortunate flood disaster that claimed lives and displaced over 414,000 people from their homes in some parts of the state, which has added to the numerous humanitarian crises Borno state has been wrestling with,” Prof Dakum said.
He commended the governor for exhibiting serious determination and commitment in de-escalating the gravity of the challenges and surmounting courage to overcome them.
Profesor Dakum called on the National Emergency Management Agency to as a matter of necessity equip itself in all the states with enough flood disaster life- saving equipment now that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has issued stern warnings of intense flooding in different parts of the nation.
