Father of a newborn baby in Borno state, Mr. Bukar Grema, Wednesday named the baby boy after the northern Nigerian  Hausa musician, Dauda Rara.

His wife, Bintu Abba, gave birth Wednesday and the naming ceremony was witnessed by a mammoth crowd in a mosque in Fori area of Maiduguri.

In an interview with newsmen, Grema said he decided to name his child Dauda Rara for the sake of love and passion he has for the renowned Hausa musician.

He said he has been musing the idea in the past seven years but he wasn’t blessed with a baby boy till Wednesday.

The kanuri born father is based in Fori Maiduguri city and  said he has never seen and met with  the Hausa musician, nor is he related to Rara.

However, he said the extreme and unique love and affection he has for Rara made him name his baby after Rara.

The ward head of Fori, Bolama  Modu  Ngoma, welcomed the development while wishing the baby would  emulate the musician.
