Irked by Friday’s twin suicide bomb blasts, the Adamawa state government has planned to ban hijab in some parts of the state.
It has also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to take enough relief materials to the victims and relations of the Madagali twin bomb blasts without further delay.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, disclosed this at the weekend shortly an emergency security meeting, stressing that the gesture had become imperative “considering the hardship caused by the insurgents’ activities in the area.”
He said the situation had, however, been brought under control as a medical team from the Ministry of Health had been dispatched to attacked council to attend to the victims.
According to him, part of the resolutions of the security meeting “is that the state government will soon engage the Islamic religious leaders in the state with a view to considering the temporary ban wearing of hijah in the troubled parts of the state.”
He said Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla had directed that all the political and traditional leaders must return to their domains to encourage their people to calm down.
On Friday, two female suicide bombers detonated their explosives at grains and second hand clothes sections of Madagali market killing over 30 persons and injuring 177 others.
